Ishara Bhashi in assembly in Jhenidah
Recently an assembly of Ishara Bhashi and cultural show was held at Jhenidah district Shilpakala academy. At the initiative of the Association for Integrated Socio Economic Development under Privileged people (AISEDUP), speech impaired persons performed spontaneously.
Mohammad Abu Bakar assistant secretary (retd), was chief guest while Ekramul Haq, Jhenidah village theatre convener; Aminur Rahman Tuku, president of Human Rights Association; Sheikh Selim, president of Electronics Media Reporters Association and Nargis Aktar Nirbahi Magistrate and Suvash Chandra Devnath were special guests.
People from all walks of life including 125 speech impaired people from Jhenidah attended the function. The speech impaired performed a play, dance and entertaining programmes, much to the surprise of the audience.
A play “Haturey doctor” composed and directed by entrepreneur Ahsan Habib was staged.
Speech impaired Alamgir told The Daily star that he is self reliant. He has studied up to Class VIII from Dhaka Sign Language School. Now he has a stationary shop at Harina kundo upazila bazar.
An audience said that speech impaired are not the objects of abhorrence.
The speakers said that we should all stretch our hands to them. The speech impaired can neither speak nor hear like other people. However, they can run all kinds of business and exchange views and opinions through sign language. They are not the objects of contempt in the society. They are self reliant and are not a burden to their parents.
