Admin bldg of BAU still padlocked

Chhatra League leaders and workers kept the administrative building of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) under lock and key for the second consecutive day yesterday to fulfil their three-point demand.
They continued the agitation programme holding the teachers and officials hostage inside the administrative building when the general students are on winter vacation.
Their demands include annulment of all recruitment made in the university during 2001-07.
Other demands include fresh recruitment on ad hoc basis against all vacant posts and holding the election to Bangladesh Agricultural University Students Union.
Earlier on Wednesday, the BCL men also padlocked the gate of the administrative building for four hours and burnt the effigy of the vice chancellor.
The BCL leaders at a rally on the campus declared postponement of their agitation until January 2 for peaceful holding of the orientation of the newcomers.
