2 succumb to injuries
The death toll of the blast at Rahim Steel and Ship-breaking Yard in Sitakunda rose to six as one of the workers succumbed to injuries Wednesday night and the other one yesterday.
The dead, Nurul Islam Mintu, 35, son of Wahed Ali of Dhunat upazila, Bogra, died around 8:00pm on Wednesday and Abu Raihan, 22, son of Abdul Wahal of Bogra, around 7:15pm yesterday at the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Earlier on Tuesday, Mintu and Abu with three other injured, Saddam, 22, Lutfar, 30, and Nazrul, 30, were shifted to the burn unit of DMCH from Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
Hospital sources said Mintu suffered severe burns in the eyes, face and chest and Abu suffered 80 percent burns.
Mintu's body was sent to his village home after autopsy yesterday afternoon.
On Wednesday, in another incident at Sonaichhari under Sitakunda upazila, five workers of Unique Traders Ship-breaking Yard owned by SM Al Mamun, son of AL lawmaker Abul Kashem Master, were injured when an iron plate fell on them.
