Breaking New Ground
She plays a headstrong, educated and independent young woman in the film “Third Person Singular Number”. She can also be seen in the hit TV series “19:20”, where she assumes a glamorous persona. The actress who displays such versatility is, of course, Nusrat Imrose Tisha.
In her words, Tisha “lives in a spacious house with her sweet, small family.” “Third Person Singular Number” was Tisha's first film. “Although I had received many offers for films, I declined most of them mainly because my family wasn't okay with the idea. Accepting the role of Ruba in the film was a sudden decision. In fact, now when I think about it, everything happened suddenly.”
Says Tisha, “Once in, it took me two months to hone the expressions, reactions, responses, laughter, and tears; two months to prepare, two months to shoot, and one more month to get out of the character. The film premiered on December 10, 2009. We had to do a lot of campaigning for the film in Dhaka, Gazipur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Khulna etc from the 12th to 22nd. When I look back at the experience now, it was just breathtaking. When I hear the word 'actress', addressed to me, I simply laugh because I still can't believe it!
“The film is getting repeat audiences. After watching it once, people are returning with their friends and family. This boosted our spirits. When I wanted to see the film, I couldn't get tickets. It was perhaps at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival when I first saw it, but there too I couldn't concentrate, as there were many foreign reporters, jury members. Finally when I got to see it properly, I was at a loss for words. I guess that feeling could be compared to childbirth.”
Has her life changed post the success of the film? “Personally I do not feel much has changed after the film, despite its popularity. The only difference is that now I have to work harder because the expectation of my viewers has gone up. This also induces a fear that if I am not as successful in my later projects, I would let their expectations down. But this has also enhanced my respect for my work,” the young actress says.
