BSTI moves on measures in goods
The government has made use of weighing machine with logo of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institute (BSTI) mandatory to maintain accurate measures in goods.
The system will be launched across the country in phases.
The decision was taken at the 24th meeting of BSTI, the state-run watchdog to monitor foods and manufacturing items, at its conference room in Dhaka yesterday.
Industries Minister Dilip Barua chaired the meeting where Industries Secretary Dewan Zakir Hossain, BSTI Director General AK Fazlul Ahad were present.
The meeting decided to incorporate information related to food security in primary school textbook curriculum to make children aware of dire consequences of adulterated foods and check accuracy in weighing, said a statement of BSTI.
It also took a decision that Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television will launch a motivational campaign titled Safe Food and Health Problem.
