Police yet to rescue girl abducted 38 days ago
The police are yet to rescue a teenage girl who was abducted from a village in Sunamganj some 38 days ago.
They even could not arrest any kidnappers who are now giving threats to her family members to force them to withdraw the case.
Raj Kumer Das of Ghungiargaon village, father of the victim, said this at a press conference at Bangladesh Crime Reporters' Association auditorium in the city on Friday.
He said Mamun, Sujan, Obaidul and Jahangir of neighbouring Bhatgaon village and Khorshed of Noagaon abducted his daughter, a student of class nine, on the night of November 19.
"After a case was filed, main accused Mamun gave threats to me over phone, saying that if we do not withdraw the case, they will kill the girl," Raj Kumer added.
"Despite our repeated request, Shalla police did not arrest any criminals," he said.
Raj Kumer also urged the prime minister, the home minister and the inspector general of police to take proper measures immediately to rescue his daughter and arrest the criminals.
When contacted over phone, Shalla Police Station officer-in-charge Asheq Suja Mamun said all the accused persons have gone into hiding and that the police are trying to arrest them.
