No Bangladesh League matches at BNS
Bangladesh Football Federation suspended today's fixtures of the ongoing Bangladesh League after Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) requested to the football's governing body to vacant the venue for renovation work at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
The BNS will host the opening and closing ceremony of the 11th SA Games to be held from January 29-Feburary 9 next year and the ceremonies committee of the SA Games has a vast task left at the country's premium venue with only one-and-a-half month remaining and that is the reason for requesting BFF to shift the Bangladesh League matches to other venues.
"The Bangladesh League's match between Rahmatganj MFS and Brother Union will remain suspended tomorrow (Monday) and the league will resume the next day either at Army Stadium or Kamlapur Stadium as the BFF has responded to the national interest ahead of SA Games," said BFF general secretary Al Musabbir Sadi after the emergency committee meeting at the BFF House yesterday.
Sadi said that SA Games was a big event in this sub-continent and BFF had to pave the way for the renovation works as well as the rehearsal at the BNS.
He also said that they would sit with representatives of all 13 participating teams tomorrow (Monday) before taking final decision about the venue.
The Bangladesh League only resumed on Saturday after a one-and-a-half month break due to Eid-ul-Azha and the SAFF Championship.
