Class boycott at BL College, clash at Rangpur medical
Students of Khulna BL college went on indefinite class boycott yesterday while 20 students were injured in a clash at Rangpur Medical College (RMC) on Sunday.
Students of Government BL University College yesterday started boycotting classes and all examinations for an indefinite period demanding registration of 62 students of the college, reports UNB.
Under the banner of Sarbadaliyo Chhatra Oikya, the students took the decision for class boycott at a meeting on Saturday.
Sources said, despite limited seats, the college authorities admitted 62 more students in various honours courses in 2008-09 academic year.
They alleged that the National University authorities have refused to give
registration to the students making their academic life uncertain.
Our Correspondent in Rangpur reports: At least 20 students were injured as two factions of Chhatra League (BCL) clashed on the campus of Rangpur Medical College (RMC) on Saturday night.
Critically injured Pulok, Selim, Uzzal, Shuvo, Pabon, Tanvir and Sufian have been admitted to RMCH.
Sources said, the clash started about 11:00 pm at Pinnu Hostel and continued till 1:00 am between Tamim and Sajib groups. It spread to two other hostels, they added.
The clashing activists damaged at least seven rooms of their rival groups at Pinnu, Mukta and Zia hostels of RMC.
Tamim alleged that Sajib along with outsiders attacked his supporters without any provocation while Sajib blamd Tamim and his men for the attack.
Contacted, RMC principal Dr Azizul Islam said, the clash followed misunderstanding between two groups of students. The situation is returning to normalcy, he added.
Additional forces have been deployed on the campus.
