Six get life for forcing girl into prostitution

A Barisal court on Monday sentenced six people to life term imprisonment for forcing a girl into prostitution.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge Abul Hossain Bepari gave the verdict after examining 11 witnesses and related evidences.
He also fined the convicts Tk 20,000 each, in default, to suffer 6 months more in jail.
The convicted six are Md Rafiq, Harunur Rashid, Abu Jafar, Yusuf Mridha, Harun Howladar and Shahid. The verdict was pronounced in absentia of the accused.
According to the prosecution story, promising the underage girl from Bakerganj to give job at a garment factory the six brought her to Dhaka on May 13, 2001.
In the capital, the victim was forced into prostitution. Becoming seriously sick she returned to her village home on June 3, 2001.
