Housewife commits suicide

A housewife allegedly committed suicide by intaking poisons at the city's Khilgaon yesterday.
Salma Akhtar Haque, 32, a Bangladeshi born US citizen, died at city's Rashmono Hospital at 1:00pm.
Sirajul Islam, brother of Salma filed a case against Salma's husband--Shahin Haq alias Abu Taleb and his three brothers with Khilgaon Police Station.
"Relationship between Salma and Shahin worsened over the last few months centering Shahin's illicit relationship with a woman," Sirajul told The Daily Star last night.
Shahin, who married Salma about 12 years ago, used to beat his wife every now and then over the issue, he said, adding that their relationship deteriorated when Salma came to know that her husband got married to the woman.
"On Sunday night, Shahin's second wife phoned Salma and threatened her to disappear from their lives," he said.
Salma could not bear the insult and took poison, he added.
Her body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy last night.
