Holcim holds seminar on Green Built contest
Environment, economic and cultural issues should be taken into account in planning for urban development and management, speakers have said at a seminar in Chittagong.
Holcim Bangladesh Ltd, a leading cement producer, organised the seminar on sustainable development at Hotel Peninsula on Sunday.
The Chittagong seminar is the latest in a series to introduce a nationwide contest: Holcim Green Built Bangladesh Contest.
Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology Prof Shyamal Kanti Biswas was the chief guest at the seminar chaired by Holcim Bangladesh Chief Executive Officer Rajnish Kapur.
Prof Roxana Hafiz of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology made a presentation on sustainable development.
An advisory board and jury board comprising leading businessmen will guide the contest. 'Built Project' and 'Idea Project' are the two categories with Tk 20 lakh in total prize money.
The last date for project submission is January 31, 2010 and the result will come out in April.
