Buruj taken on fresh remand
Mesbaul Hasan Buruj, prime suspect of Jubo League leader Shahid Iqbal Bithar murder case, was taken on a three-day remand yesterday for further interrogation in this connection.
This is for the fourth time that investigation officer of the case has taken him on remand. He was arrested on October 24 in front of Ramna Police Station in Dhaka.
Three suspects arrested earlier in connection with this murder case filed petition on Thursday with the Court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Barekuzzaman to retract statements they had made under Section 164 of CrPC confessing to their involvement and also naming three top level leaders of Khulna Awami League and a businessman as masterminds of the murder plan and financiers of the hired killers.
Last week, KMP Commissioner Helaluddin Badri told local journalists in a view exchange meeting that he had achieved a major success in the investigation, being confirm that three local leaders of the ruling party masterminded the plan to murder Bithar and implemented it with help of hired killers.
Meanwhile, a group of Khulna Awami League (AL) leaders have said police is trying to 'fish in the troubled water' centring investigation into Bithar murder case as Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) officials monitoring the investigation are buying unnecessary time to damage merit of the case.
