Education Minister Nurul Islam Naheed yesterday hoped that the socio-economic freedom of the country could be attained through implementation of the Vision-2021.
New generation would have to play a key role in implementing the vision, the minister said at an installation ceremony of the officers-employees welfare association of education ministry at National Academy for Education Management (NAEM) here.
With Syed Ataur Rahman, education secretary, in the chair, the function was addressed by Sanjida Khanam MP, Prof Dr Noman-ur-Rashid, director general of secondary and higher education directorate, and Raitun Nahar, director general of NAEM.
Naheed said the new generation should be equipped with modern and time-befitting education to face the 21st century challenges.
The ministry would have to play a responsible role in this regard, he said, adding that it is not possible to achieve national progress ignoring the illiterates and the school dropouts.
The minister said the government has taken a step to print 19 crore primary and secondary-level books to distribute those among the young learners.
He called on all to supplement the government's efforts in formulating the proposed education policy and making the education sector corruption-free.
