Call to ensure rights of female workers
Karmojibi Nari yesterday demanded the government introduce healthy trade unionism to ensure equal rights for female workers as well as to stop sexual harassment in workplace.
It also demanded compensation for the victims during the clash between workers and police at Tongi and exemplary punishment to the killers of workers.
The leaders of the organisations placed the demand at a rally at Muktangan in the city, says a press release.
Female workers are victims of various deprivation in their workplace due to lack of women-friendly environment, they said.
The leaders mentioned that continuous unrest is a bar to ensuring a congenial atmosphere for female workers in the workplace.
They stressed the need for introduction of 'one factory one union' system to reduce the disputes between owners and workers.
KN Executive Director Rokeya Rafiq Baby, Arifa Akter Anu, Rokeya Sultana Anju, Shahin Akhter and Mahbuba Akter Lipi spoke at the programme.
