Shakib 20th top batsman in the world
Bangladesh captain and world's number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan forced his way back to the top twenty batsmen's list after his blazing unbeaten 105 in the second one-day international of the five-match series against Zimbabwe last week.
Shakib, who struck 15 fours and three sixes in his 69 balls knock at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, has broken into the top 20 after jumping five places to 20th spot while left-handed opener Tamim Iqbal, who has scored 111 in the series so far, has moved up four spots to 31st place.
Shakib has 644 points in the top batters' list, led by Indian captain Mehandra Singh Dhoni with a staggering 834 points. The Bangladesh captain however has been leading the all-rounders' list with a massive 439 points against second-placed India's Yuvraj Singh (361).
Zimbabwe vice-captain Hamilton Masakadza was also one of the biggest movers in the latest ICC batting rankings. After scoring 128 runs in the series to date, the right-hander has jumped 19 places to 38th position.
Bangladesh's wily left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak has rocketed 17 places to 23rd spot in the bowlers' rankings after taking ten wickets including a career-best 5 for 29 in the second ODI against Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, the fight for the coveted number-one team's position is getting interesting with second-placed India narrowing the gap with leaders Australia to just one point after taking a 2-1 lead in the ongoing seven-match ODI series.
India, who had trailed Australia by four points before the start of the series, can go ahead of Ricky Ponting's side if they win the fourth ODI at Mohali today. An Australian victory will mean they will widen the gap to three points.
