Pali College to be set up at Rajban Bihar
Danuttam Kathin Chibar Dan, the biggest religious festival of the Buddhist community, concluded at Rangamati Rajban Bihar amid prayer and donation of chibar (cloths) to monks yesterday.
Sadhana Nanda Mohasthabir alias Bana Bhante, chief and most venerable monk in the Rajban Bihar, delivered a sermon from the Tripitak at the programme.
He told the devotees to avoid all bad things including divide and rule policy.
As Nirvana is the happiest place for a Buddhist, Bana Bhante urged all to follow the rules of Tripitak to reach there.
Chakma Raja Devasish Roy, Industries Minister Dilip Barua, State Minister for CHT Affairs Dipankar Talukder, Thailand's Ambassador to Bangladesh Chalermpol Tanchit and Thai prime minister's Adviser Supatra Masdit and Chairman of Rangamati Hill District Council Nikhil Kumar Chakma attended the function.
Dipankar Talukder said a Pali College will be established inside the Rajban Bihar at a cost of Tk 3 crore.
The Thai delegates donated nine Buddha statues and chibars at the programme.
Thousands of Buddhist from three hill districts Rangamati, Bandarban and Khagrachhari thronged the compound of Rajban Bihar to attend the festival.
