Bangladesh beat Pakistan
Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 24 runs in the opening match of the Special Olympics International Cricket Carnival at Air Force Stadium in New Delhi yesterday.
Bangladesh scored 156 for one in 20 overs. Pakistan, in reply, were all out for 132.
Bangladesh will take on hosts India today at the same ground to decide the group position.
Bangladesh, Pakistan and hosts India have been placed in Group A while Nepal, Sri Lanka and China in Group B of the 20-overs-a-side tournament.
Special Olympic Bharat in cooperation with the Delhi government and the Ministry of Youth and Sports have arranged the tournament to create awareness about Special Olympics as well as to generate public interest.
The event will provide an international platform for players with international disability to display their talent and compete in an excellent tournament.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Tariq A Karim congratulated the players and officials of Bangladesh Special Olympics Cricket Team on their heroic victory and wished them to keep up the same spirit throughout the tournament.
