JMB men remanded in PP murder case
Two activists of militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were taken on two-day remand yesterday in connection with the case for killing Haider Hossain, who was the public prosecutor in Jhalakathi judges' murder case.
JMB kingpin Shaikh Abdur Rahman, military commander Siddiqul Islam Bangla Bhai and five of their accomplices were hanged for killing senior assistant judges Jagannath Pandey and Sohel Ahmed in Jhalakathi town on November 14 in 2005.
Unidentified criminals shot dead Haider Hossain on April 11 in 2007 when he came out of a mosque in Jhalakathi town after the Esha prayers.
Jhalakathi Senior Judicial Magistrate Abu Zafor Mohammad Noman gave the remand order for JMB members Md Sagar and Murad Hossain after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel produced them to the court with appeal for a ten-day remand for interrogation.
In the forwarding report placed before the court yesterday, CID Sub-Inspector Md Mosharef Hossain, who has recently taken charge as the 5th investigation officer (IO) of the case, said he gathered important information from the two arrestees about the murder and they needed to be remanded again for extracting more information.
