KHDC chairman, 2 others sued
A cheating case was field against the chairman of Khagrachhari Hill District Council (KHDC) and two others yesterday.
The accused are KHDC Chairman Ruhity Karbary, councillor Abu Bakar Siddiq and his brother Mohammad Rubel.
Sramik League Matiranga upazila Vce-President Mohammad Abul Kalam field the case with Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court.
Taking the case into cognisance, Magistrate Abul Bashar Munshi asked the accused to appear before the court on November 22.
In the case statement, Kalam said chairman Ruhity Karbari and councillor Abu Bakar Siddiq took Tk 50,000 from him through Rubel in the name of allocating 10 MT of food grains for him to cultivate fish in Alutila Battali area under Matiranga upazila on September 8 this year. But the chairman did not allocate food grains against him.
Contacted, KHDC chairman denied the allegation, saying that it is a conspiracy to harass him.
The incumbent KHDC chief is also the Vice-President of BNP Mohalchhari unit while councillor Abu Bakar Siddiq is also a leader of Jamaat Ramgarh upazila unit.
