2 cohorts of Tunda Ismail held in India
Delhi police arrested two accomplices of Bangladeshi criminal Tunda Ismail, who was killed in a shootout with police three years ago at Kamrangirchar in Dhaka, on suspicion of their involvement in terror-related cases in India.
Mehboob, 26, hailing from Nawabganj in Dhaka, and his accomplice Muneer, 26, were held near a hotel in south Delhi's Nizamuddin locality with illegal firearms, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) HGS Dhaliwal said.
Police arrested them on intelligence inputs developed during the probe into a bomb blast in Mehrauli area of Delhi last year that a Bangladeshi youth involved in terror-related cases in that country has sneaked into Delhi.
"Mehboob's movement during the blast in Mehrauli on September 28 last year is being verified as he has been evasive about his movement in Delhi at that time. Help from concerned agencies is also being sought," Dhaliwal said.
Mehboob was arrested earlier in Dhaka about three years back in connection with seven criminal cases and later sneaked into India after suffering two years of imprisonment while Muneer was sentenced to three years in jail in a murder case and robbery of a senior citizen in Rajender Nagar locality of central Delhi in 2004.
