Two more arrested for alleged links to Bithar murder
Police arrested two people in connection with Khulna City Corporation (KCC) ward councillor Shahid Iqbal Bithar murder at a house in Natore town at midnight on Monday.
The arrestees, Ferdaus Hossain Hiru and Rajiv alias Tony, are on the criminal list of the Special Branch of Khulna Metropolitan Police.
The law enforcers led by Sub-Inspector Tipu Sultan of the Detective Branch of KMP raided Asha villa and arrested the two.
Asha villa belongs to Havildar Noor Alam of Natore Railway Police station. Ferdaus and Rajiv had been staying there since murder of Bithar.
Bithar, also a leader of Jubo League central committee, was gunned down on the night of July 11 at Musalmanpara under Khulna Sadar Police Station.
With the two, the total number of people arrested in connection with Bithar murder now stands at 16.
According to AC (DB) Abu Sayem of KMP, Ferdaus and Rajiv were arrested following a confessional statement given by Buruj during interrogation on remand.
Apart from their involvement in Bithar murder, Ferdaus and Rajiv were also wanted in advocate Manjurul Imam and Journalists Manik Saha and Humayun Kabir Balu muder cases. They were also wanted in havildar Akram Hossain murder case filed with Sonadanga Police Station in 2002.
