Former staff refutes arson charges
Former senior executive director (HR and admin) of Bashundhara Group Col (retd) Ahsanullah in a statement on Monday protested the arson allegation brought against him in the general diary (GD) filed by the group on October 14.
In the GD filed with Tejgaon Police Station Bashundhara Group said accused number six (Col Ahsanullah) was terminated from Bashundhara Group for his corruption and irregularities. He is one of the eight people Bashundhara Group accused.
However, Ahsanullah in his statement said he was not terminated from Bashundhara Group rather he submitted a letter to the chairman of the group on January 25 this year about his intent to not work there due to personal reasons.
Col (retd) Ahsanullah attached, with his statement sent to The Daily Star, a copy of the letter that Mahaboob Morshed Hassan, vice chairman of Bashundhara Group, sent him on February 2 accepting his resignation. The letter printed on the official pad of Bashundhara Group carried Mahaboob Morshed Hassan's signature.
Ahsanullah said according to the acceptance of the resignation letter, he was not terminated from Bashundhara Group for corruption and misconduct. He said he never felt it necessary to take any dastard step, as alleged by Bashundhara Group, to set fire to Bashundhara City or be involved in any act to destroy "evidence" of his alleged misdeeds.
