Mahmud hauls back East
Seamer Mahmuduzzaman took four wickets to lead a fightback for Team East on the second day of the Challengers Cup match against Team West at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium yesterday.
After being bowled out for 186 in their first innings, Team East reduced the opposition to 94 for eight in their second innings. Seamers Rumman Islam and Debabrata Paul took two wickets each, adding to Mahmud's 4 for 24.
Earlier, Humayun Kabir top-scored with 29 in East's first innings when former national paceman Hasibul Hossain, Rashedul Haq, Monirul Islam and Ariful Islam all took two wickets each.
Team West now have an overall lead of 154 runs with two wickets in hand.
In the other match, Team North batted first after winning the toss and trudged to 154 for 5. Skipper Kamrul Islam was unbeaten on 83 with Arman Hossain, who was on 15. Left-arm seamer Shoaib Hossain took three wickets for Team South.
