Taskforce to review CHT refugees' list

Chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts Refugee Affairs Taskforce Jatindra Lal Tripura yesterday said they would review the list of refugees from India and internally displaced people very soon and take decision to rehabilitate them gradually.
He was talking to reporters at Khagrachhari Circuit House after its first meeting under the Awami League-led government.
"The taskforce members will sit every month to evaluate the progress and decide next initiatives to assist the helpless people," said Tripura.
"The taskforce is doing everything in line with the government's commitment and to fully implement the CHT Peace Accord," he added.
He also said there are 1,47,027 internally displaced families -- 87549 families in Khagrachhari, 51166 in Rangamati and 8312 in Bandarban -- in the existing list that should be reviewed very soon to rehabilitate them.
Besides, the taskforce is also working on rehabilitating 64678 indigenous people belonging to 12,228 refugee families from India, he said.
