Ensure justice to litigants

Chief Justice MM Ruhul Amin has said judges and lawyers should work together to expedite trial process and disposal of pending cases.
Besides, concerted efforts by all concerned are needed to ensure justice to the litigants, he added.
The chief justice was addressing a gathering of lawyers at Sunamganj District Bar Library auditorium yesterday.
He said the government has taken measures to appoint new judges to overcome their shortage.
He hoped that the crisis would be resolved to some extent soon.
The chief justice was informed that over 14,000 cases had been lying pending in different courts of the district while 20 posts of judicial magistrates and judges had been lying vacant for long.
Acting president of Sunamganj District Bar Association Motassir Miah chaired the meeting which was also addressed by former president Abu Ali Sazzad Hossain, Swapan Kumar Dey, Pir Fazlur Rahman Misbah and Bar Secretary Ainul Islam Bablu.
Earlier, the chief justice visited different courts at the district headquarters.
He is scheduled to visit Sylhet courts today.
