Four drown in Tangail boat capsize

Four people including two schoolboys drowned when a boat capsized on Sunday in river Louhajang of Mirzapur upazila in Tangail.
They were identified as Tushar Sarkar, 14, son of Makhan Sarkar, Partha Saha, 13, son of Adhir Saha, Partha De, 27, son of Niranjan De of Madhyapara of Joydevpur and Biswajit.
Divers recovered their bodies on Sunday night and yesterday morning.
Officer-in-charge of Mirzapur Police Station Habibullah Sarkar told The Daily Star that the small boat was carrying around 50 people, beyond its capacity and overturned while crossing the river around 8:15pm.
Most of the passengers swam ashore but four went missing, the OC said.
A team of divers from Dhaka later rushed to the spot at night and recovered the body of Tushar Sarkar on the same night. The bodies of Partha Saha, Partha De and Biswajit were recovered in the next morning, sources said.
All of them had come to Mirzapur to see the Durga puja at Ranada Naat Mandir beside the Louhajang river.
