Attack on newsman protested

Journalists here formed a human chain in front of the local Shaheed Minar yesterday protesting attack on Farid Ahmed, Gafargaon upazila correspondent of the Daily Bangla Bazar Patrika.
The journalists also demanded immediate arrest of the culprits to bring them to book.
Farid Ahmed, an office-bearer of local press club came under attack by a gang of criminals on his way home at Hospital Road at around 8:00 pm on September 24. The gang allegedly led by one Mollah Shaheed stabbed Farid injuring him critically. He is now undergoing treatment at Pangu Hospital in Dhaka.
A rally followed the human chain. It was addressed, among others, by Azimuddin Master, Ataur Rahman Minto, Nazmul Haque Biplob, Abdullah Al Amin Biplob, Rafiqul Islam Khan, Harun-or-Rashid, Mansur Ahmed, Sheikh Abdul Awal, Rubel Mahmud, Abdul Mannan Paltan, Asaduzzaman Shoel, Shafiul Alam Maruf, Azharul Haque and Ashraf Uddin.
A case was lodged with Gafargaon police station accusing nine people including Mollah Shaheed. But none was arrested till filing of this report at 5 pm yesterday.
