Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists yesterday vandalised Baniachang upazila BNP office protesting attack on one of their leaders by JCD men in Habiganj town on Saturday night.
Rubel Ahmed, president of BCL Jonab Ali College unit, had an altercation with a JCD activist of Government Brindaban College unit at a puja mandop in the town at around 10:00pm on Saturday. After an hour, a group of JCD activists attacked Rubel, leaving him seriously injured.
As the BCL activists took out a procession at the upazila headquarters yesterday afternoon protesting the attack on Rubel, a group of JCD men attacked them. BCL activists also counter-attacked the JCD men and ransacked upazila BNP office.
Police dispersed the clashing groups and brought the situation under control.
