10 hurt as BNP men clash over formation of new committee

Ten BNP activists were injured in a factional clash over formation of a union committee in Domar upazila yesterday.
Sources said BNP upazila unit convened a meeting on Pangamotukpur Primary School premises yesterday to form Pangamotukpur union committee of the party.
Two panels--one led by Abdul Aziz and the other by Moshiur Rahmanwere placed before party's upazila convenor Monsurul Islam Danu and other leaders.
Both the groups pressed the upazila leaders to give approval to their respective panels. At one stage of altercation, the two groups got locked in a clash. They used lethal weapons during the clash, leaving ten activists from both factions injured.
Upazila leaders left the venue without forming union committee. The injured are undergoing treatment at Domar Upazila Health Complex.
Internal feud in BNP Domar upazila and union units surfaced anew after formation of an upazila convening committee recently. Monsurul Islam Danu has been made upazila convenor. Two groups--one led by Danu and the other by former president Mosabber Hossen Manu-- clashed several times in different party units.
