Khaleda returns home

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday returned home after performing umrah in Saudi Arabia.
Party Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain along with leaders, activists and supporters of Bangladesh Nationalist Party and its associate bodies received the party chief at Zia International Airport and presented her bouquets.
On her arrival at airport, Khaleda told reporters that she used to go to Saudi Arabia to observe umrah every year ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, but was unable to do so in last two years because of "unfavourable circumstances".
"This year I was able to go for umrah by the grace of almighty Allah. I prayed for the well-being of the people and the country," she said.
Khaleda Zia, also leader of the opposition in parliament, wished the countrymen Eid mubarak.
Khaleda left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia on September 11 to perform umrah in Makkah at the invitation of the Saudi King.
During her stay in Saudi Arabia, Khaleda Zia performed umrah twice. She also offered Lailatul Qadr prayers at the Holy Ka'ba Sharif along with tens of thousands of Muslim devotees.
Her entourage included her younger brother Shamim Eskander and his wife Kaneez Fatema, Khaleda's younger son Arafat Rahman Koko's wife Syeda Sharmila Rahman and her daughters Zaifa Rahman and Zahia Rahman and Shamser Mobin Chowdhury, foreign affairs adviser to the BNP chairperson.
The leader of the opposition will exchange greetings with the diplomats on the Eid day from 12:15 to 12:45pm at Eskaton ladies club in the city and with the people from all walks of life from 12:45pm.
