Death anniversary of Tarkabagish today
Today is the 23rd death anniversary of national leader Maulana Abdur Rashid Tarkabagish, says a press release.
Different organisations, Maulana Abdur Rashid Tarkabagish Foundation and his family members, have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day with solemnity across the country.
They would pay tribute to this eminent educationist and veteran politician by placing wreaths and offering fateha at his graveyard at Banani in the city in the morning.
Qurankhwani and doa mahfil will also be held at the graveyard seeking divine blessing for the departed soul of the veteran language movement hero.
The same programmes will also be held on behalf of his family members at his village home to mark the day.
To mark the day, Tarkabagish Foundation will hold a discussion and a doa mahfil and at Tarkabagish Chattar at Sirajganj road.
Tarkabagish Pathagar, Tarkabagish Parishad and Salanga Social Welfare Samity have jointly organised the daylong programmes at Salanga on the occasion.
Tarkabagish was the pioneer of the historic Salanga movement against British colonial role in the subcontinent and he played an outstanding role in abolishing zamindari system, formulation of loan arbitration board and sharecropping system.
He played a vital role during the language movement in 52 and he was the first to deliver speech in Bangla language at Gono Parishad at Karachi in Pakistan in 1955.
