UK-Bangla chamber to resist campaign against Bangladesh RMG
The British-Bangla chamber has said it would work on resisting the campaign against the Bangladesh ready made garment (RMG) industry in the European Union.
The assurance came when a visiting 12-member delegation of the British-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce (BBCC), led by its president Dr Wali Tasaruddin, met the leaders of the BGMEA (Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association) at the BGMEA office in Dhaka yesterday, according to a press release.
The BBCC also assured the BGMEA of all possible assistance in expanding the Bangladesh RMG market in the United Kingdom (UK).
During the meeting, Ferdous Parvez Bibhon, the BGMEA's acting president, invited the BBCC team to attend the Batexpo 2007, an exhibition of textile items which is due in Dhaka on November 15-17.
Bibhon pointed out that a motivated campaign is going on in the EU countries to create a misconception on the state of labour compliance in Bangladesh. He urged the expatriate businessmen in the UK to help remove such a misconception.
