Art competition for students on disaster prevention
Marking the occasion of International Day for Disaster Reduction, World Vision Mymensingh Area Development Project held a painting competition for students along with other daylong programmes recently. Held at the premises of Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Shangrahashala (art gallery), some 200 students from 13 schools and colleges of the district town participated in the competition. The theme was “Towards a Culture of Prevention: Disaster Risk Reduction Begins at School”.
Keeper of the Shangrahashala, Dulal Chandra Gain and fine arts teacher of local Zilla School Hasan Masud were the judges at the painting competition. Additional Deputy Magistrate M. Nazmul Hasan Khan inaugurated the competition.
Prior to the competition a colourful procession was brought out on the occasion. Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh, Md. Shamsul Alam; Additional District Commissioner (Revenue), Md. Afzal Hossain; District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Md. Abdul Halim; local World Vision Manager Samarendra Sangma and Disaster Management Official of World Vision, Md. Abdul Barek among others participated in the rally.
In the afternoon a discussion was held. Later the chief guest distributed prizes among the winners of the art competition.
