Magura celebrates the occasion with fanfare

A cultural programme and painting competition for Adivasi children was held on Tuesday evening at the Asaduzzaman Auditorium in Magura to observe World Indigenous Day.
Research Development Collective (RDC) in Dhaka and Adivashi Samaj-Kalyan Samiti (Indigenous People's Social Welfare Association) in Magura jointly organised the function in association with the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Facility.
The programme featured poetry recitation by eminent reciter and cultural personality Bhaswar Banerjee, while local artistes rendered songs and dances.
Later, general secretary of Bangladesh Adivasi Odhikar Andolon (BAOA), Professor Mesbah Kamal and Bhaswar Banerjee jointly gave away the prizes to the participants of the painting competition.
Earlier in the morning, a discussion was also held at the Nomani Maidan.
With DC (Deputy Commissioner) in Magura Muhammad Dilwar Bakht in the chair, Language Movement veteran and organiser of Liberation War Sree Yu Suey; Professor Mesbah Kamal; Kabir Murad; Jannat-e-Ferdousy; Rakhi Mrong; Md. Altaf Hossain and advocate Hasan Seraj Suja took part in the discussions.
