A group of people staged demonstrations in front of the Zia International Airport in the city yesterday under the banner of little known organisations to protest the visit of former British high commissioner Anwar Choudhury.
Accusing Anwar Choudhury of having a hand in the 1/11 political changeover, they demanded his arrest within 72 hours.
The organisations -- Desh Premik Jagrata Janata and Sachetan Nagorik Forum -- formed human chains at the roundabout near the airport.
They also threatened to take law into their hands if their demand is not met, according to a press release of Desh Premik Jagrata Janata. MA Hashem Raju is the convener of the organisation.
Meanwhile, activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) under the banner of 'Students against repression' brought out a procession on the Dhaka University campus yesterday protesting Anwar Choudhury's visit to Dhaka.
Convener of DU JCD Abdul Matin, however, said some general students of the university staged the demonstration and JCD men were not involved in it.
