With boats loaded with fish traps, fishermen head out for fishing in Shanir Haor. Locally known as “chai”, “gui” and “duari”, these traps are made with bamboo and plastic yarn, designed to catch small fish. For many of the fishermen, this method of fishing is a part of their tradition passed on from generation to generation. But due to an incessant use of current nets, the number of fish has declined in the water bodies over the last couple of years. As a result, this age-old method is dying out. The photo was taken last week in Sunamganj's Tahirpur upazila. Photo: Sheikh Nasir
