Two women help a young girl cross over the concrete road divider on this portion of Dhaka-Chittagong highway in front of Matuail Maternity Hospital yesterday. Though there is a footbridge (not seen in the picture) nearby, they are not interested to use it, risking their lives as well as the kid's. Photo: Rashed Shumon

As if these replicas of national cricketers were built temporarily only to add beauty to the Chittagong city ahead of the 2011 world cup. This installation is one of the first things international visitors including cricketers see after exiting the Chittagong airport. Instead of being a thing of beauty, this has rather become an eyesore now because the figures got broken, gathered dirt, and their colours faded. The photo was taken yesterday. Photo: Prabir Das
