'Missing' cloth trader found in Narayanganj
Police yesterday found “missing” cloth trader Aman Ullah in Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj.
Aman had been “missing” since he left home in the district's Bandar upazila for Gazipur on Monday morning. As Narayanganj of late has seen an alarming number of abductions, his family members immediately suspected the same happened to Aman.
His brother Mokter Hossain filed a general diary with Bandar Police Station.
Superintendent of Narayanganj Police Khandaker Mahid Uddin told The Daily Star that police got hold of Aman at Shimrail of Siddhirganj around 10:30pm. Aman gave contradictory statements in primary interrogation.
“He first said he went into hiding over a row with his wife and then he said he only played a trick so that he won't have to pay back Tk 5 or 6 lakh he borrowed from his friend Tara Mia,” Mahid said.
Police were quizzing him to find out the reason behind his going “missing”, he said.
Meanwhile, our Sylhet correspondent reports that a guard of Al-Arafah Islami Bank's Ambarkhana branch in Sylhet city has been missing with Tk 80,000 since yesterday afternoon.
Senior officer of the bank Abdul Mannan said he sent the guard, Ibrahim Khalilullah, to deposit the money to his personal account in South East Bank's Chouhatta branch around 12:30 pm. Since then, there's been no trace of him.
Officer-in-charge of Sylhet Kotwali Police Station Ataur Rahman said it was not clear yet whether Ibrahim was picked up by anyone or he himself had gone into hiding.
