Militancy under control: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmood Khandker today said militancy has not been rooted out from the country but the situation is under control.
He described today’s snatching of three Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh operatives from a prison van in Mymensingh as an isolated incident and added the attackers would be arrested soon.
The police chief was speaking to reporters after his visit to Sylhet national stadium.
Police usually discharge their duties with patriotism, he said adding however any negligence to duty will be probed, reports our Sylhet correspondent.
Earlier, he met with high police and sport officials to discuss about the security issues for the upcoming T20 World Cup that will start in Bangladesh from March 16 this year.
