Mid-season transfers from March 20
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) yesterday revealed the mid-season players' transfer window for Bangladesh Premier League which will take place from March 20 to April 5 after the completion of Sheikh Jamal's two remaining matches of the first leg, to be held on March 16 and 19 against Sheikh Russel and Uttar Baridhara Club respectively.
“The first leg of Bangladesh Premier League was supposed to end today (Sunday) through the match between Sheikh Jamal and Uttar Baridhara, but we were forced to defer it due to unavailability of Bangabandhu National Stadium for the ICC T20 World Cup's opening ceremony and Bangladesh's FIFA friendly against India,” said BFF's senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy after a meeting of the professional football league committee at the BFF House yesterday.
The meeting also decided to start the Independence Cup from March 20 at the BNS with 12 teams – ten from Bangladesh Premier League and two from Bangladesh Championship League.
The meeting also decided to refer the matter regarding Sheikh Russel's coach Maruful Haque's comments about league committee to the disciplinary committee. Having demanded the resignation of all the members of the league committee for their failure to hold the Feb 28 match between Sheikh Russel and Sheikh Jamal, Haque claimed that the league committee postponed the match to favour Sheikh Jamal.
“Maruful Haque was served a show-cause notice for his comments about the league committee and he apologised for his comments. However, we have decided to send the matter to the disciplinary committee,” said Salam.
“The club management will decide what to do regarding the matches and the coach cannot have anything to say about it,” said Murshedy, who is also chairman of the professional football league committee.
