Menez brace ends winless streak
Jeremy Menez struck twice as AC Milan ended a five-game winless run by defeating Udinese 2-0 at the Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday afternoon.
The Frenchman opened the scoring after Maurizio Domizzi had been dismissed midway through the second half for felling Keisuke Honda in the area.
Michael Essien then saw red for Milan but Menez scored a fine second goal to seal a vital victory for the home side.
The Rossoneri, who entered Sunday's game sitting seventh in the table looked to impose themselves - only to initially run into an inspired Orestis Karnezis, who produced a string of world-class saves in the opening half.
The second period continued in much the same vein, with the shot-stopper punching clear Essien's long-range effort.
However, a breakthrough finally came in the 65th minute when Menez sent Karnezis the wrong way from the spot after Domizzi had hauled Honda to the ground.
Menez cut in from the left wing with 15 minutes remaining and smashed an unstoppable effort into the bottom-left corner.
Milan spurned a couple of golden chances late on to add further gloss to the scoreline.
