Man killed over land dispute

An elderly man was killed and two others were injured over land dispute at Purbo Khadail village in Badalgachhi upazila of Naogaon district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Mir Kashem Ali, 90, of the village, said Azizul Haque, officer-in-charge (OC) of Badalgachhi Police Station.
There had been a longstanding conflict between Kashem and his neighbour Azizul Haque over the land.
The family members of the two engaged in an altercation over the issue in the morning. At one stage, Aziz and his family members hit Kashem with bricks, leaving him dead on the spot.
Kashem's daughter-in-law Fancy Begum, 30, and her son Ahad Ali, 10, also sustained injuries during the incident.
On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Aziz and his family members had gone into hiding soon after the incident, the OC said.
