Man held with foreign currencies at Dhaka airport
Customs authorities arrested a man with foreign currencies worth Tk 50 lakh at Shahjalal International Airport last night.
Acting on secret information, a team of customs arrested Saidur Rahman, 30, near the No. 3 boarding bridge around 8:45pm, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo quoting Madhab Bikash Dev Roy, assistant commissioner of airport customs.
Customs officials searched a trolley bag Saidur carrying with him and found the currencies -- Euro, Saudi riyal, Qatari Riyal, United Arab Emirates Dirham and Brunei Dollar -- stashed inside.
The arrestee was about to board a flight of Tiger Airways to go to Singapore, the customs official said.
A case was filed with Airport Police Station.
