Man held with fake Indian rupee at Dhaka airport
Customs Intelligence officials arrested a man along with Rs 1.65 crore Indian fake currency (equivalent to Tk 2.06 crore) at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka today.
The arrestee is Khalil Bepari, 35, of Shariatpur.
The intelligence officials recovered 164 bundles of Rs 1,000 each from Khalil in the airport’s Customs Hall area when he returned to Dhaka from Karachi of Pakistan via Dubai by a flight of Emirates Airways, EK582, around 9:00am, said Moinul Khan, director general of customs intelligence.
The currencies were kept in a carton covered with a blanket, Khan said.
Khalil visited Pakistan at least 10 times this year, he added.
