Man hacked on court premises

A Bihari man was hacked near Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court yesterday allegedly by his rivals whom he had a land dispute with.

Two months ago, victim Touhidul Islam, 35, ousted his neighbours advocate Selim along with his brothers from a piece of land at Bihari camp in Mirpur-1 that the brothers had grabbed years ago, said victim's brother Shah Alam.

In revenge, five attackers, led by Selim, hacked Touhidul, said Shah Alam adding that Touhidul went to the court in order to give a deposition in a case.

Touhidul was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Selim could not be contacted over the phone.

Kotwali police said they heard about a scuffle in the court area but no one companied to them till filing of this report at 10:00pm. Victim filed a case against seven persons with Katwali Police Station.
