Mahathir meets Hasina, praises dev activities
Malaysia's former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad highly praised the recent development activities, especially infrastructural ones, in Bangladesh after meeting Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Gono Bhaban yesterday.
Mahathir's wife Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali and Malaysian High Commissioner Norlin Othman were present.
The present government laid emphasis on Bangladesh's overall development, not only the capital, the prime minister's special assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil quoted Hasina as saying while briefing journalists afterwards.
“We've put emphasis on development of the rural economy bringing down the migration rate of people from rural areas to urban areas,” she said.
