Days of Our Likes

Lightning strikes, Thunder roars

Alarm goes off over the sound of snores

Daily grind when the clock strikes nine

You're not yet up, but back online

Doorbell rings, Household staff

Report to make your day's decaf

Lighters flicked, Selfies clicked

But the shave was rushed so the razor nicked

Breakfast plate, for a status update

Of the food you clicked yet hardly ate

Car doors slamming, Kids head banging

to youtube tracks, with their IDs hanging

Kids and spouse, all out of the house

In pricey shoes and designer blouse

Holding phone steady, Camera ready

Assorted filters of fun confetti

On your way, to start the day

Cash to earn for bills to pay

Meetings done, lunch at one

Check who's liked your "morning fun"

Day drags on, you stretch and yawn

But the smile comes back when the flash comes on

Clocks ticktock, Cars unlock

A mad rush made to hit gridlock

Headlights glaring, Radios blaring

And a crowd of pervs who can't stop staring

Pointless honking, floodwater stomping

Damn near killed while texting something

Rickshaws hauling, cars are crawling

through gridlock traffic with drivers brawling

Update time, A new fine dine

Perfect choice for your "timeline"

There's newsfeed, So there's no need

To call the friends you no more meet

Bedtime shower, ungodly hour

Phone plugged in, too low on power

An hour spared, for likes and shares

From strangers who don't even care

Eyes can't fight, the glaring light

The screen that stays on through the night

Throbbing pain, from mindless games

Till you're ready for it all again.
