Niharika Momtaz’s fashion show wows Doha

In Qatar, a fashion revolution led by designer Niharika Momtaz has gracefully unfolded. The event, "Enchanting Fabrics Uniting Cultures," showcased Bangladeshi fabrics in a contemporary style in Doha on 6 October, at Qatar Foundation. Niharika Momtaz, a Dubai-based Bangladeshi designer, was the show producer, and the event was organised by The Embassy of Bangladesh, Doha, Ananna - Association of Bangladeshi Women in Qatar, and in collaboration with Council Of Modest Fashion, Futad, and Richmond.
"Trough motifs, materials, and colours, celebrates the deep-rooted traditions of Bangladesh. I tried to emphasise the inherent beauty of handwoven craftsmanship and raw materials," said Momtaz.
Niharika Momtaz, the creative force behind the evening, is praised as a visionary artist seamlessly blending culture and fashion. From Dhaka's vibrant energy to Dubai's haute couture scene, she has left an indelible mark in art and design.
Niharika's journey began with a deep reverence for her Bangladeshi heritage, starting clothing design at 18. She has showcased her collections internationally and ventured into fashion NFT, founding Bangladesh Art Week and Heritage Bangladesh foundation. Her heritage textile collections — Gamcha, Jamdani, Banarasi Katan, and Organza — blend contemporary elegance with historical richness.
The "Tales Of Thread" collection introduces woven art on traditional cotton towels (Gamcha). "Madhobilata" tells the story of Jamdani, highlighting its cultural legacy. "Prerona" features traditional handwoven Banarasi Katan silk saris. The 'ASHA' Bespoke Collection showcases fine zari organza saris, embracing circularity and responsibility.
Israt Ara Yunus, the president of Anannya - Association of Bangladeshi Women in Qatar, expressed her thoughts by thanking Niharika for curating and presenting a mesmerizing show in Doha as show producer.
