Omicron: India not resuming international flights from Dec 15
India today suspended resumption of regular international flights from December 15, in view of the emergence of Omicron variant of Covid-19.
A new date for resuming international flights would be announced in due course, the directorate general of civil aviation of the country said in a tweet, reports our New Delhi correspondent.
"In view of the emerging global scenario... the situation is being watched closely in consultation with all stakeholders and an appropriate decision indicating the effective date of resumption of scheduled commercial international passenger services shall be notified in due course," the note said.
The Indian government had last month announced that regular international flights would resume from December 15 after a break of more than 20 months.
However, that decision came under scrutiny last week as the Covid-19 situation following Omicron's emergence called for a review of the move.
