Legal procedures were followed in charge framing against Khaleda

Says public prosecutor

The court maintained appropriate legal procedures in framing charges against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, her son Tarique Rahman and seven others in two corruption cases, claimed prosecutor Mosharraf Hossain Kajol yesterday.
"Some media have reported that the court did not ask Khaleda Zia whether she pleads guilty or not while framing charges on March 19, which is not true," Kajol said, adding that Khaleda sought justice when the court asked her whether she was guilty.
He was addressing a press briefing at the Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters in the capital.
The former prime minister was indicted in both the Zia Charitable Trust case and Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, while her son in the orphanage case. Both cases were filed by the ACC.
However, coming out of the courtroom after charge framing Khaleda questioned how the judge could frame charges without asking her whether she was guilty or not.
